Blessing of The Fishing Fleet

Every year, the Boothbay Community (residents and visitors alike) gather in Boothbay Harbor to remember those in the maritime industry who have lost their lives to the sea, and to pray for the safety of those who continue to earn their living on the water.  We are proud to have the Blessing of The Fishing Fleet* as part of our Windjammer Days festivities. The blessing is performed at the Atlantic Edge dock followed by the outside memorial service at the adjacent Fisherman's Memorial Park on Atlantic Avenue. An honor guard from the Coast Guard will present the colors, a wreath will be laid and lost sailors will be honored while the bells at Our Lady Queen of Peace ring.  Viewing of the boats and blessing can take place at the Fisherman’s Memorial or any place in the harbor.
